The SNS Cast Approved Spine Instructorship offers advanced training of post-residency neurosurgeons the field of spine, with focus on complex spinal procedures and deeper understanding of the biomechanics and clinical components for an academic practice. The yearly curriculum offers comprehensive exposure to adult surgical treatments and procedures including complicated deformities and injuries to the spine, degenerative and arthritic conditions, infections, tumors, metabolic diseases, trauma, and fractures.
The program in Neuroendovascular Surgery is focused on the subspecialty that uses minimally invasive catheter-based technology along with radiologic imaging and clinical acumen to diagnose diseases of the central nervous system, head, neck and spine. At the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM), this program is focused upon educating the next generation of Neurointerventionalists by providing a comprehensive program that will ensure proficiency and expertise in the skills and judgment required to care for patients with this complex series of diseases.
The SNS CAST approved Neurotrauma Fellowship offers advanced training of post-residency neurosurgeons in the field of neurotrauma. The yearly curriculum includes a wide range of neurotrauma pathologies including the traumatic brain injury (TBI) spectrum from concussion through severe TBI, spinal cord injury, osseous spinal column injuries, and polytrauma with neurological injury. Fellows will have opportunity to learn advanced patient care in our world-class Neurosciences ICU, including neurocritical care management and multimodality neuromonitoring. An integral component of the fellowship is clinical neurotrauma research, program improvement projects, and leadership development to prepare the fellow to be a future Neurotrauma Director. The fellow candidate will have satisfactorily completed an ACGME-accredited residency training program in neurological surgery. Post-chief PGY-7 candidates will be considered on an individual basis.
