The UC Department of Medical Education is committed to promoting excellence in teaching, supporting scholarship among medical educators, enhancing the curriculum by supporting, recognizing and rewarding outstanding teachers, and by building community among medical educators.
We recognize that a key responsibility of medical education is the improvement of the health of society and are dedicated to enhance learning to ultimately provide for the best care of patients.
The department was created in 2009 reflecting the commitment of the College of Medicine to the enhancement of education along the continuum of medical education including medical student education, graduate medical education and continuing medical education.
We are one of a select few medical schools with an academic department devoted to medical education.
The faculty of the department includes educators with either primary or secondary appointments who have demonstrated commitment and expertise in medical education in areas such as curriculum design, teaching skills, research in medical education, and assessment and evaluation.
Sincerely,
Philip Diller, MD, PhDSenior Associate Dean for Educational Affairs and Interim ChairDepartment of Medical Education
