The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Department of Family & Community Medicine (UCDFCM), Division of Urban Underserved and Global Health is proud to offer a Global Health Fellowship for physicians interested in caring for underserved/vulnerable populations while developing their skills in advocacy and education. We are proud to offer one-year and two-year options, with tuition remission available to help two-year fellows obtain a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Global Health or a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research.
This is a non-ACGME-accredited fellowship in which the Fellow is appointed as an entry-level faculty member in the University of Cincinnati Department of Family & Community Medicine. The fellow will provide care to underserved populations in Cincinnati at a Cincinnati Health Department City of Cincinnati Primary Care office, which provides care to many of our region’s immigrants and refugees. They will also spend four weeks per year providing care and working with one of our international partners, Wuqu’ Kawoq/ Maya Health Alliance in Guatemala or Village Life Outreach Project in Tanzania. Given a part-time clinical schedule, fellows have the option to learn to provide forensic medical evaluations for individuals seeking asylum as a part of a medico-legal partnership with the Immigrant & Refugee Law Center, or to pursue training in Point-of-Care Ultrasound or Tropical Medicine/Infectious Disease.
To accomplish the GH Fellowship Objectives, residents participate in the following activities:
Master Degree: Two-year fellows will attend classes and complete course work and projects necessary to achieve a Master of Public Health degree in Global Health from the University of Cincinnati. Those entering fellowship with an MPH can opt to earn a Master in Science of Clinical and Translational Research. Graduate certificates are also available. All of these options are eligible for tuition remission. A Master in Medical Education is also available, but not covered by tuition remission.
Please send your CV, 2-3 letters of recommendation, and a personal statement (which includes your goals for the fellowship and your reasons for desiring more training in global health) to Sarah Jadeed, program coordinator, at jadeedsh@ucmail.uc.edu.
