The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine constantly provides students, all the way from undergraduate to established staff the opportunity and resources to participate in many of the Orthopedic Surgery and Sports medicine podium presentations throughout the country and the World.

The 27th Annual D. J. Frank, Jr., MD Memorial Lectureship and Thesis Day was held on Saturday, May 14. Dr. DJ Frank was a UC Orthopaedic Surgery Residency graduate who tragically died just two years into practice. He is remembered still today for his genuine compassion for patients. His family established this memorial lectureship in his memory.
Kristy Weber, MD, FACS, FAAOS, Professor and Vice-Chair of Faculty Affairs, Abramson Family Professor in Sarcoma Excellence, University of Pennsylvania Department of Orthopaedic Surgery was the guest speaker. Dr. Weber is the first female to hold the prestigious position of President of the Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Weber presented “Culture Change in Orthopaedics: The Time is Now!”

UC COM Orthopaedic Surgery Residents represented the Department at the 2022 Ohio Orthopaedic Society Annual Meeting in Columbus on May 6, 2022. Four of the six podium presentations for the day were presented by UC residents – Andrew Steffensmeier MD, Jack Buchan MD, Zachary Crawford MD PharmD and Brendan Southam MD. UC residents took the top three awards:
