Work Hours/Call Frequency

General daily resident working hours are 8 AM to 5 PM. Evening weekday call from 5-9 PM is covered by three residents (1 covers neuro and 2 cover body imaging). In house attending Neuroradiologists and Body Faculty are present for final sign-off of cases. Reading Room assistants are available during these call hours to assist residents in answering phones and getting in touch with physicians to relay urgent findings. Two residents cover Body Imaging on weekends 8 AM to 5 PM.

During a 4-week block at Cincinnati Children's Hospital there are approximately 6 after hours call shifts with onsite Pediatric Faculty and Fellows to review studies.

Residents on a 4-week Interventional Radiology rotation will split call with the IR fellows, ESIR residents, and other rotating residents during their 4-week block. All questions and consults are forwarded after hours to a dedicated IR cellphone. Call is typically home call (1 in 5-6) nights but may necessitate driving in after hours for emergent angio cases.
