MEDICAL SCIENCES SUMMER INSTITUTE

***The Medical Sciences Summer Institute will run two individual week-long (full-day) sessions in 2024.  The dates for session one are Monday, June 17 - Friday, June 21, 2024.  The second session will be held Monday, June 24 - Friday, June 28, 2024.  Upon applying, students will rank their preference for the week they hope to attend.  The program will run 9:30am to 3:00pm each weekday.  The cost of the program is $1000.

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine has created a summer workshop (“Hands on Laboratory Medical Research”) for those who are sophomores and juniors in high school during the 2023-24 school year, and are at least 16 years old, interested in careers in medicine, or other healthcare related fields, and wish to gain some experience in medical research in a state-of-the art laboratory. Students will learn to formulate hypotheses, design experiments, analyze data and communicate their conclusions at a research symposium at the end of the course.

To Apply: Please email us with a 1 page synopsis of your academic history and leadership/extra-curricular activities (similar to a resume) along with a 1 page personal statement on: 1) why you feel this program will benefit you and 2) any background/prior related experience that would help make you a great fit for the program. It is not required you have prior research experience. Please be sure to include your current high school GPA, date of birth and class year (i.e. 2025 for current high school juniors or 2026 for current high school sophomores).  Remember, you must be at least 16 years old.  Finally, please rank in order which week you hope to attend from the weeks in June listed above.
