Information for Sponsors

The goal of the Dermatology Clinical Research Program is to provide outstanding service to our sponsors, and outstanding dermatologic care to our patients and study participants, while using the latest technology available.  The Dermatology Clinical Research Program operates with a team for each study consisting of a Principal Investigator, one or more Sub-Investigators, two clinical research coordinators, a clinical trials administrative specialist, and a data entry specialist.

The UC Health Dermatology Clinical Research Program has fully equipped examination rooms, with locked cabinets and a locked freezer for investigational product. There are also locked cabinets for source documents and other confidential material. State of the art equipment is monitored (with results logged) on a regular basis per regulations. There is a large private office available for study monitor use, as well as a Dermatology Library for group meetings.

The Dermatology Clinical Research Program has easy access, either within the Medical Arts Building or within adjacent/connected buildings, to extensive laboratory services, IV administration units, a state-of-the-art research pharmacy, cardiology, and inpatient services within University Hospital.  The Clinical Research Center maintains liaisons with the UC Health Office of Clinical Research (OCR), the University of Cincinnati Institutional Review Board, and a number of central IRBs.

Dr. Breneman has served as principal investigator on over 250 dermatology clinical trials.  Dr. Fleischer has served as principal investigator on over 100 clinical trials.  We have experience and expertise in conducting phase 1, 2, 3 and 4 clinical trials, as well as with investigational products administered IV, IM, SQ, orally and topically. We have been top enroller on many studies.

The Center has conducted clinical trials for numerous dermatologic disorders, including but not limited to: acne vulgaris, actinic keratosis, alopecia, atopic dermatitis, (pediatric) atopic dermatitis, bullous pemphigoid, condyloma accuminata, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, cutaneous pain, dandruff, discoid lupus erythematosus, eczema, folliculitis, gonorrhea, hand dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, HIV infection transmission, herpes zoster, ichthyosis vulgaris, infected dermatoses, mycosis fungoides, nasal S aureus carriage, onychomycosis of fingernails, onychomycosis of fingernails, photoagaing, plaque psoriasis, prurigo nodularis, scalp psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis of scalp, seborrheic dermatitis of face, secondarily infected dermatoses, skin care in insulin-dependent diabetes, skin infection, solar lentigines, tanning, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, transdermal delivery of medication, ultrastructural changes in the stratum corneum after moisturizer application, urticaria.

The Clinical Research Program is also involved in education, assisting medical students and residents in developing protocols, and supervising and assisting them with the conduct of these protocols.
