The Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship Program is a non-ACGME-accredited training program closely affiliated with the Universityof Cincinnati Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, and Cincinnati VA Medical Center.

One fellow is selected per year. The one-year fellowship program provides fellows who have already completed a GI fellowship with individualized experience in a variety of advanced endoscopic procedures including:

• Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
• Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)
• Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)
• Radiofrequency ablation (RFA)
• Endoluminal stent placement
• Endoscopic feeding access
• Small bowel enteroscopy
• Endoscopic suturing

Our staff of three full-time advanced endoscopists are committed to providing outstanding clinical care, conducting cutting-edge clinical research and promoting a strong educational environment for our trainees.

Fellows will have an opportunity to care for patients with a breadth of hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders as well as others potentially requiring advanced endoluminal procedures in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to the inpatient experience at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, fellows will participate in weekly Pancreas Clinic where they will see a variety of patients referred for complex pancreatic and hepatobiliary disorders.

The Advanced Endoscopy fellow is given an academic appointment as a junior faculty member. They will have limited responsibilities as a GI attending (night call, consult service, GI fellow procedure attending, etc.) to allow dedicated time to learn advanced endoscopic procedures, participate in conferences, and conduct clinical research.

Multidisciplinary Conferences

Fellows will participate in weekly or biweekly multidisciplinary conferences including pancreas conference, hepatobiliary conference and colorectal conference. These conferences involve a coordinated interaction between various specialists including gastroenterologists, hepatologists, radiologists, interventional radiologists, surgical oncologists, transplant surgeons, colorectal surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and others (PAs, NPs, nurses, social workers, care coordinators) for the assessment and evaluation of patients currently undergoing evaluation. Fellows are expected to present their patients at the conference and participate in the discussions.

Fellows will also participate in other general GI conferences including journal club, radiology conference, pathology conference, etc.
