Our fellowship program aligns with our Department and UC College of Medicine / UC Medical Center commitment to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment. Our fellowship recruitment and selection process strongly emphasize the value of diversity in our training program and respect for the element of “distance traveled” in selection and interview of our prospective fellowship candidates. The Division of Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology is committed to cultivating a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. We embrace people of different age, ancestry, color, ability/disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, familial or marital status, medical conditions including pregnancy, military status, nation of origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, military status or any other characteristic that makes an individual unique. We encourage faculty, staff, trainees to reflect our mission in the following ways.
Collaborate with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access to assist search committees to proactively identify and implement strategies for attracting well-qualified, diverse applicants to our division in accordance with University policies. All committee members will review the JHM Unconscious Bias Collection as a requirement of serving on a search committee.
Current faculty will participate in continuing education e-learning programs offered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health to improve culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS). Goal is 100% participation by end of calendar year 2021.
Division leadership will work jointly with business and clinical operation manager(s) to attract and hire a diverse work force both in our academic and clinical settings. The workforce will reflect the diversity of our educational program and patients at our ambulatory sites in the Greater Cincinnati region.
Current staff will be encouraged to participate in educational training in unconscious bias and CLAS. Goal is 100% participation by end of calendar year 2021.
Division leadership to include the fellowship program directors and associate program directors will work with the core program leadership and the Graduate Medical Education (GME office) to interview and ultimately recruit well-qualified, diverse applicants to our training programs.
Join efforts in the Department of Internal Medicine, The College of Medicine and UC Health to close gaps in health care delivery at our ambulatory and inpatient service locations.
