Dr. Kinnear is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He has been in medical education for over 10 years, helping to lead competency-based assessment programs, the Medical Education Pathway, coaching initiatives, and quality improvement curricula. Dr. Kinnear was a Med-Peds resident here in Cincinnati from 2009-2013, serving as Med-Peds chief resident in 2013-2014. He obtained his Master of Medical Education from University of Cincinnati in 2018 and completed a one-year education research fellowship called the Education Research Scholars Program in 2020. In 2020, he was selected for the Macy Faculty Scholars Program, during which he led efforts to pilot competency-based time-variable training in UC’s internal medicine program. He is currently a student in Maastricht University’s School of Health Professions Education PhD program focusing on validity arguments and argumentation theory. Clinically, Dr. Kinnear provides inpatient care to both adults and children and has a strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound. He spends much of his free time with his family, hiking, jogging, reading, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
