Division of Vascular Surgery

The University of Cincinnati division of vascular surgery offers a full range of minimally invasive procedures and operates as a regional center for the treatment of complex vascular problems. The division performs standard vascular procedures for abnormal enlargement of arteries in the chest and abdomen, repair of previous aortic surgery and bypass to bring blood flow around blocked arteries in the leg.

The division offers treatment of vascular disorders at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, West Chester Hospital Surgical Center, Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the UC Health Physicians Office North in West Chester. Outpatient non-invasive vascular diagnostic testing is available at both the UC Health Physicians Office in Clifton, adjacent to University Hospital, and at the UC Health Physicians Office North in West Chester, adjacent to West Chester Hospital. The section recently launched the UC Health Vein Center, recruiting a dedicated venous surgeon with expertise in minimally invasive vein procedures.

The division was one of the first academic vascular practices in this country to develop a formal program in endovascular surgery and remains a recognized leader in the clinical applications of this rapidly evolving field.

Innovations in vascular care include laparoscopic aortic procedures and minimally invasive approaches for critical limb ischemia. Dr. Joseph Giglia is one of only a few surgeons in the country who perform laparoscopic aortobifemoral bypass to treat aortoiliac arterial occlusive disease.
